Lyrics: Maureen S. O'Brien, 8\13\93 from Irish poem in
"The Journey of Laigin mac Crimthann"
Music: "McAllistrum's March", Celtic trad.("The Ace of Pipering" also works)
White hands grasping shields of white
Blazoned all with silver bright
Blue swords glitter in the light
And mighty horns are blowing.
We march in well-made battle lines
Before our chieftain proud and fair
We march, we march among blue spears
A bright-faced band with curly hair.
We scatter forces of the foe;
We ravage every land we know;
We march in splendor, wreaking woe;
A swift host famed for vengeance!
No wonder if our strength is great,
For queens and kings' sons are we all;
Smooth comely bodies, blue-star eyes,
Crystal teeth, lips red and small.
We are good at killing men,
Honeythroats in hall and glen,
Masterly songsmiths, and then
Skilled in playing at fidchell.
White hands grasping shields of white
Blazoned all with silver bright
Blue swords glitter in the light
And mighty horns are blowing.
