Line of stars in space.

The Stars Forget Their Name

Lyrics & Music: Maureen S. O'Brien, Sept. 1-17, 1994

I went to Ke-rivaan and walked
The mazes left by Those Before.
I saw the town they left behind
But no one lives there anymore.
They made an eyeless statue weep
And sketched in still-hot flame,
But they are dust in endless sleep
And the stars,
And the stars forget their name.

CH: (And the stars, and the stars, forget their name.)
And the stars,
And the stars forget their name.)
(And the stars, and the stars, forget their name.)

Flans flashed by me in the dark--
Those Before kept them as pets.
Folks say they make fire now;
They can't quite make metal -- yet.
I heard scrabbling in the night,
Saw features like the statue's face.
They saw me and they took flight --
Remnants of,
Remnants of a once-proud race.

CH:

I have seen our cities rise
All across the empty stars.
Once their cities rose there, too,
Far more beautif'ly than ours.
I saw how the future stalked
And killed them. Now they are no more.
I went to Ke-rivaan and walked
The mazes left,
(The) mazes left by Those Before.
