Can you tell I've really been bored? Here's another short fic.
Warning: not suitable for younger audiences. If Maureen thinks this is
inappropriate, she is welcome to delete the post. Well, here goes.
Holmes leaned against the door of 221B. He thought the
Irregulars would never leave. He looked at the wreck that was his
sitting room. The flat was so quiet now that he could hear his
own breathing. 'Ah, solitude at last,' he thought to himself.
Holmes walked over to his chair, when something caught his eye.
So he walked over and picked it up. It was a Playboy! 'Hmmmm,' he
thought. 'It must have fallen out of Wiggins' pocket when he sat
down. Oh well, no harm in looking.' Holmes sat down in his chair
and opened it. 'Wow!' he thought-exclaimed. He was so mesmerized
by it that he didn't hear the door open or Watson walking in.
"Holmes! What are you reading?" Watson exclaimed.
Holmes quickly hid the Playboy behind his back. "Honestly, Watson,
it's not what you think!"
Watson walked over and snatched the Playboy off Holmes. "Uh huh.
Sure, Holmes. Yeah." Watson was getting amusement from this.
"Watson, hear me out...." Holmes said calmly. Just then his
door opened and Wiggins walked in.
"Uh, Mr. Holmes? Did I leave something here?" he asked cautiously.
Holmes held up the Playboy. "You mean this?"
Wiggin's face got beet red. "Yeah."
Holmes shot Watson a triumphic look and handed the magazine to
Wiggins. "I don't want to see this again. Clear?"
"Crystal, Mr. Holmes." And with that Wiggins shot out the door as
fast as he could.
"See, Watson, I told you there was a logical reason behind it,"
Holmes said proudly.
Watson tried not to laugh. "Yes, Holmes, but that doesn't make up
for the fact you were reading it."
It was Holmes' turn to turn beet red. "I guess that curiosity
got the best of me."
Just then Lestrade walked in. "Hello, Holmes; hello, Watson. What's
up?"
"Oh, just that Holmes was looking at...." Watson began, till
Holmes clamped a hand over his mouth.
"What brings you here, Lestrade?" Holmes asked, changing the
subject.
"I was wondering if you both would want to help me on this new
case I got?" she asked.
"We'd be delighted to go and check it out." Holmes said, and
grabbed his inverness and hat.
"Oh, that's not the only thing you'll be checking out," Watson
said only to receive a dirty look from Holmes. Lestrade just
rolled her eyes and kept walking down the stairs.
There you go. Yes, my mind was in the gutter. Goodnight, everyone.
