Part 28

Thanks to KID for posting the other parts again and
refreshing my memory.
Derrick Anderson held his ionizer close to his chest. He was
almost there. There was a lock on the door, but somehow...somehow, he
knew how to get in. Other security measures that should have blocked
his progress didn't seem to work.
Derrick smiled lopsidedly. Soon, very soon, he could be happy
again. All he had to do was kill Sigerson, and he was so close to that
goal. Just a little further. Ah yes. Here it was.
He pushed open the last door to find four people sitting around
drinking tea. He looked at them. They looked back. He smiled again.
There was Sigerson. He could be happy again... He lifted the ionizer,
took aim and fired....
Mary sighed and looked around. While it was nice to meet these
friends from the Message Board, the circumstances were rather less
than satisfactory. She couldn't help but feel that something was
watching...
"Oh, great, now I'm doing it," she muttered.
"Doing what?" Brittney asked.
"Thinking in terms I don't usually think in...cheesy B-flick
lines and such." Mary sighed again. She found sighing to be a rather
relaxing form of exercise. No, she was just having problems breathing.
Great.
"Holmes' rooms are just up ahead," Maureen said, "But it
doesn't look like he's going to be in."
"Great," Mary repeated her thought aloud. "Well, maybe...never
mind. I'm just going to shut up and be quiet. Every time I open my
mouth I just dig myself a deeper hole. That's it. I'm going to be
quiet...I'm not shutting up, am I?"
"Mary! Calm down," Brittney cajoled, "Things aren't that bad.
Just take a deep breath and...that's better."
Mary flushed in embarrassment. "Sorry...I can get kind
of...weird when I'm tired and scared. So what do we do now?"
Everyone turned to Maureen.
This one's really short, but it's six in the morning
and...well...if it doesn't fit I'm sorry...just ignore it. I won't
take offense, promise.
